Horticulture is a popular second-career choice.
I 've been a keen gardener for some years, but recently it has become something more. I was keen to leave my office job behind for good and run my own gardening business.

I've just completed the RHS Level 2 certificate with Learning Curve and passed the exams with flying colours! I'm now planning to study for the Level 3.

In the meantime I've been able to take the opportunity of voluntary redundancy from my previous job and am in the process of setting up my own gardening business.

Studying with Learning Curve worked really well for me - I just didn't have the time to attend college, so distance learning was ideal. My tutor, Liz, supported me right up to the day I took the exam, which was also important. She was there to answer all those little last minute questions and really helped me to feel confident about going in for the exam. It's years since I sat an exam and it felt a lot like going back to school again!

Studying at home can be hard work, especially when you're tired and there are a lot of other demands on your time, but if I hadn't taken the plunge I'd still be stuck in the office. This will be my first summer working outdoors in the garden instead of in a stuffy office, and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it.

General Information

The RHS Level 2 certificate is widely recognised as a good entry-level qualification for the horticultural industry. It is an excellent starting point whether you wish to run your own business or would like to find employment in this area. It is also a strong foundation for further study, whether in general horticulture, garden design or a more specialised area.

Our course includes personal tutor support right up to the day you sit your exam. Although most students complete their course within 12 - 18 months, the course can last for up to three years, so don't worry if you think you will only be able to work through your course slowly, you will have plenty of time when studying with us!
