Learning Curve

Vertical Divider
Interior design by Bryony.

Bryony's Story:

Before having my four children I worked as a secondary school teacher. After taking a few years out of the job market while my children were small I began to think about what I'd like to do in the future. Although I loved teaching I wanted to take the opportunity to explore my creative side! I've always loved art and design. I enjoyed designing my own home and I found that friends often asked me for advice on their homes too, so a new career in Interior Design seemed to be a natural progression!

The course with Learning Curve has been a fantastic starting point. I've especially liked the focus on practical work and preparing my portfolio, which has helped me to feel much more confident in my own skills.

I've now completed my diploma and am working part-time for a local interiors company. It's great experience and when my youngest child starts school this year I plan to launch my own full-time design business. I'm so excited about this new career!

Studying at a distance is so much easier than trying to travel to college every week, especially when you have a young family. But it can still be hard work at times. This is a demanding course and the tutors expect work of a high standard.

The best bit about the course was my tutor, Ana, who offered me lots of advice on developing my portfolio and finding a job in this area. Even now I've completed the course we stay in touch and she's been really helpful as I put in place all the parts of my new business. She's genuinely interested - which makes a lot of difference!

Professional Training

Our Interior Design students are eligible to join the British Interior Design Association (BIDA) while our Garden Design students are eligible to join the Society of Garden Designers (SGD). For more information on these please visit the individual course pages. During the course our students have the opportunity to begin their own professional design portfolio. Later this will help them to find work as well as to join their chosen professional association.

Students are assigned an experienced personal tutor who will work with them throughout their course, and can be contacted directly by telephone or e-mail. Tutors can also offer advice on career development appropriate to the student's individual circumstances.
