This is a comprehensive 10-module course providing a detailed introduction to key issues in conservation. The course has a practical emphasis and looks in depth at habitat creation and the importance of an environmentally-sound lifestyle. It also explores the role of communities in protecting both our wild places and our urban green spaces. Includes two course books, Go Make a Difference and The Rough Guide to Climate Change and full tutorial support. Study topics covered include: climate change and energy alternatives; woodland conservation; hedgerows and verges; wetlands; seashore conservation; heathlands; countryside access; impact of agriculture; urban wildlife; conservation the garden and home; carbon footprints; community projects and campaigns; getting involved.
Students have up to three years to complete this course, allowing them to work through the modules at their own pace. On average, however, it takes students around 10 - 12 months to complete the course, based on 3 - 4 hours study time per week.
